Expertise

Support, not SWOT.

Well Made Strategy grew alongside Well Told Story and Shujaaz Inc, the Emmy award winning pioneers of behaviour change communications in East Africa. Like Shujaaz, we put the Player First — making sure that all we do benefits, and is guided by, the people we're working with.

We use an approach built on Appreciative Inquiry: rather than concentrating on what's wrong, we identify organisations' core strengths and build upon them — Support not SWOT.

We lead the Kenya Comms Hub, supporting movements in Africa to shift narratives around controversial social justice issues with Love Matters Kenya and Komons, and are members of the Federation of International Comms Hubs.

01

Strategic Communications

Your organisation was birthed with a dream. Realising that dream is hard. We work with you to identify pathways, define tangible goals and objectives, align your communications to those objectives, and develop a strategy and tactics to get you there. The value of an outside eye is that we flag blind spots, provide candid and unbiased feedback and help you achieve your goals.

02

Learning, Coaching & Advisory

WMS has a tradition of knowledge and skills transfer. We don't do it for you — we show you how to do it and do it with you. The people who make decisions and do the actual work on a day-to-day basis are best placed to tell your organisation's story. We are constantly developing new toolkits, content and curricula to keep up with emerging trends and new approaches.

03

Narrative Framing

Social justice backlash is hindering social justice organisations' ability to create positive change. Well Made Strategy uses value-based messaging and Ground Truth™ approaches to craft narratives, strategise campaigns and engineer strategic coalitions that shift audience perceptions on controversial issues.

04

Crisis Communications

Knowing how to communicate in a crisis is a key skill for any organisation. The last thing you need when managing a crisis is to wonder how to communicate it. We help you make those decisions in advance so that you are not making simple decisions — often incorrectly — in a screaming panic. Every crisis is different, so we help you plan the process.
